This summer, the “Festival Mitte Europa, Bayern · Čechy · Sachsen” is celebrating its 15th anniversary.
Festival uprostřed Evropy - Mitte Europa is a Czech-German cross-border cultural event focusing on classical music. In 2006 the festival will take place for the 15th time in the so-called ‘Euroregions’ of Egrensis, Labe/Elbe and Krušnohoří/Erzgebirge, in more than 60 towns on both sides of the border.
Anniversary festival will be welcoming back Klaus Maria Brandauer, Cornelia Froboess, Jana Boušková, Ludwig Güttler, Denez Prigent, Daniel Müller-Schott, Philippe Loli, Petr Wagner, Dance of Joy, the "Říše loutek" marionette theater of Prague, and the Bach Orchestra of the Leipzig Gewandhaus. Making their first appearance at the festival are the Academy of St Martin in the Fields with violinist Julia Fischer, the Nouvelle Cuisine Big Band, the Brass Ensemble of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam, the Leipzig String Quartet, Capella Apollinis.
