Nicol was already one set from win againts Svetlana Kuznetsova, but the 20 year old Russian unfortunatelly found the resources to post a remarkable 5-7 7-6(5) 6-2 triumph. Play was held on Court Philippe Chatrier and lasted two hours and 31 minutes.

This year of women finals will be Justine Henin-Hardenne against Svetlana Kuznetsova.
