The longest running and most challenging steeplechase on the continent, the Velká Pardubická, took place today October 8th at 11.00.

The long history of the Velká Pardubická is peppered with records. The only horse to win the race four times was the phenomenal Železník. The most successful jockey was Josef Váňa, the only man to win the race five times. The only jockey to win both the Velká Pardubická and the Grand National was the Englishman Williamson. This was, however, back in the 19th century.
